The Reece Center for Handicapped Horsemanship

Our volunteers are such a large part of the Reece Center that each quarter we try to recognize one of the many that dedicate their time and efforts.

The Volunteer of the Year for 2007 is Candy Williams.

In February 2003 Candy Williams followed her heart and moved to Atlanta with no job, home, family or friends. She had just graduated from Florida Atlantic University and decided it was time for a change.

Within three weeks she found a job where she is still working today as a payroll accountant and she continues to help her roots grow deep into the Georgia soil. She has built a home in Newnan, made many friends and has even convinced some family to move to the area as well.

Along with her work at the Reece Center, Candy volunteers with a retreat program, To Encounter Christ and has also helped victims of Katrina. She recently traveled to Biloxi, MS to provide help hanging insulation and working on restoration.

Candy hard at work!

Candy, Colleen and Crystal working well together.

Candy has many talents that she generously shares. She plays the guitar and sings for Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and is even writing some of her own songs. She may even release an album some day - 2038 is her goal!

In addition to being musically talented, she enjoys drawing, cartooning & pen and ink and she works in her yard. She also travels and loves to see the United States, Oregon is her favorite state so far.

Candy has become an integral part of the Reece Center. Saturdays wouldn't be complete without her help. Candy willingly takes on any job asked of her. She loves working with the kids and horses (Crystal is her favorite horse, but don't tell the others!) and happily works to help keep up the grounds with regular maintenance assistance as well.

We are very thankful for Candy's time and efforts at the Center. Her move to Atlanta turned out to be a wonderful thing for The Reece Center as well as for Candy.

Thank you Candy for your dedication and support.
